Our Story

Omaha Track is the leading railroad materials supplier and services provider in North America. Since our founding in 1983, we’ve combined deep industry expertise, operational excellence, and sustainable innovation to support Class I railroads, short lines, contractors, and industrial partners.

What started as Tie Yard of Omaha—reselling reclaimed railroad ties—has evolved into a full-spectrum provider of materials, equipment, services, and logistics for the rail industry. Over the decades, we’ve built the infrastructure, team, and capabilities needed to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions across the continent.

What We Do

We operate across four core business units, each supported by our network of strategically located facilities:

Terminal Services
From railcar storage and transloading to switching, cleaning, short-line operations, and railcar repair — we manage the flow of materials and assets where they matter most.

Materials
We supply new and reclaimed rail, track components (OTM), and processed wood ties. Each year we reclaim, grade, and repurpose millions of ties, extending the life of materials while reducing waste.

Railroad Services
Our teams tackle projects on active and abandoned tracks—everything from track maintenance, inspection, repairs, expansion, and complete reclamation or removal.

Equipment
We provide, rent, service, and custom-build Maintenance-of-Way (MOW) trucks, railcars, and construction machinery. We also offer full inspections and support services to keep fleets in prime condition.
